Session Two - Body Surf (Drag)

Service Description

You’ve completed session one and you now understand suitable wind speed and safe direction, how to set up a LEI kite (Leading Edge Inflatable) able to demonstrate and understand equipment safety systems, can fly the kite confidently and you’re ready to take those skills and get in the water in session two. We head straight to the beach and allow you to set up independently but under the watchful eye of your instructor, do your risk assessments and head out onto the water as it’s time to develop your kite flying skills and learn to control the power while body dragging (Body Surfing). We use the body drags technique to teach controlled power and direction with the kite as you body surf across the water. There are five body drags you need to master, we concentrate on just two in this lesson: Downwind body drag – Moving the kite in a controlled figure of eight motion equally on each side of the wind window to achieve a consistent speed of movement downwind. Directional body drag – Moving the kite up and down motion with a bias toward one side of the wind window to pull yourself in your desired direction. This is used to create the power and direction of movement required to get onto your kiteboard.
