Service Description

PLEASE USE THE SESSION TWO LINK TO BOOK THIS LESSON, THANK YOU. You’ve completed sessions one and two you now TOTALY understand suitable wind speed and safe direction, how to set up a LEI kite (Leading Edge Inflatable) able to demonstrate and understand equipment safety systems, can fly the kite confidently and you’re ready to take those skills and get in the water in session two. Again we head straight to the beach and allow you to set up independently but under the watchful eye of your instructor, do your risk assessments and head out onto the water as it’s time to develop your kite flying skills and learn to control the power while body dragging (Body Surfing). We use the body drags technique to teach controlled power and direction with the kite as you body surf across the water. We will continue with the four types of body drags that you need to master: Upwind body drag – Keeping the kite steady at a 45-degree, allowing you to move slowly through the water while you lay on your side using your body as a keel to tack upwind. This is used to get back to your board when you fall off. Balance body drag- Holding the kite steady at the top of the wind window (12 o'clock) feet in front of you and slowly drift downwind maintaining control of your body position in the water and flying the kite one-handed. This is used to simulate putting the board onto your feet. Body Drag one-handed with board and maybe a little go at boardstart the end of your lesson :) During this stage of learning, we introduce you to "Self-Rescue' this is the essential skill that every kiter must learn. There is a whole range of situations in that you may need to use these techniques, so before you start riding off on the board you need to know how to rescue yourself.
